National Population Register, NPR registration in Kerala, India is getting a warm response across the state as the Census officials are saying over 1.5 crore people above the age of 5 years was enrolled in the biometric ID collection. According to them, Palakkad is the fastest district for NPR Census completion, where they listed 85 percent of the appropriate population. Kottayam and Ernakulam follow them with 80 and 50 percent respectively. The reason for warm response to this National Population Register is due to the shortage of certified data entry operators as well as the lack of awareness.

People, who missed to register, would mark the date, March 31, 2013 as it is the deadline. Director of Kerala Census Operations, V M Gopala Menon, said that sometimes the above mentioned date should be missed, but they will be conduct the NPR registration in subsequent dates which should be announced after completing the first phase. Currently more than 1000 biometric machines are in use across the state. Once they overcome the shortage of data entry operators, they would increase the number of machines for speedy completion. NPR must be done by all citizens in the country which is mandatory under the Citizenship Act, 1955.  A person, who registered for Aadhaar, should not miss to get enrolled in NPR also.

Documents to submit to the respective census officials while enrollment is,

1. Ration Card
2. Aadhar Card
3. Pan Card
4. Identity Card
5. Electricity Bill
6. Driver License
7. Water Bill
