Major Agencies of the United Nations:

International Labor Organization (ILO):

1. ILO, which formed in 1919, became the first agency of United Nations Assembly in 1946.
2. Geneva is the head quarters of ILO.
3. ILO got the Nobel Peace Prize in 1969.

Food – Agriculture Organization (FAO):

1. Nutrition Quality, Living Quality, Production of Agricultural Products, Distribution etc. should be improved. The living quality of village population should be improved were the main aims of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization).
2. Rome is the head quarters of this Organization.

United Nations Educational Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO):

1. The main aim of UNESCO is Education among nations, more justice for the equivalence of scientific – culture sectors internationally, Human Rights, Freedom etc… would be confirmed.
2. The headquarters of UNESCO, which is formed in 1946 is located at Paris.
3. In 1984, America resigned from UNESCO. But America again joined and became a member of UNESCO in 1997.

World Health Organization (WHO):

1. World Health Organization is formed in 1948 with Geneva as its head quarters.
2. The main mission of World Health Organization is for the establishment of maximum health improvement for all people.
3. World Health Organization which formed in April 7 is celebrated as World Health Day around the world.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA):

1. International Atomic Energy Agency is the society formed with Vienna as its head quarters in 1957.
2. The main aim of society is using Atomic weapons for peace requirements.
3. The motto of Atomic Energy Agency is “Atom For Peace”.

United Nations Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF):

1. The main aim of UNICEF which formed in 1946 is to carry out the child welfare globally.
2. It was in 1953, UNICEF is approved as a permanent agency of United Nations Organisation.
3. The activities of UNICEF are carrying out under the economic-social council, which got Nobel Prize in 1965.
4. The head quarter of UNICEF is located at New York.

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR):

1. The headquarters of UNHCR, which came into existence in 1950 December 14 is Geneva.
2. The main aim of commission is giving protection for refugees in International level.
3. Every year, June 20 is celebrated as World Refugee Day in around 120 countries, where the society is working.
4. United Nations Organization celebrated the period 1959 – 1960 as World Refugee Years.
5. The Organization got Nobel Prize for Peace in the years 1954 and 1981.

World Bank:

1. The biggest bank of world, which is working with Washington DC as its head quarters, is World Bank.
2. World Bank otherwise I.B.R.D is the financial institution formed for the economic aid to poverty and developing countries of world.
3. World Bank is publishing the World Development Report.
4. The World Bank which came into existence in 1945 December 27 was started its working in 1946 June 25.
5. The Working Capital of Bank belongs to member countries.
6. President is the elected ruling leader of “Board of Directors”.

Mainly World Bank consists of Four Agencies.

1. The main bank is International remaking-development bank. Other banks came under this bank.
2. The tributary society of World Bank is International Development Fund (IDA). It was formed in 1960.
3. International Financial Corporation (IFC) came into existence in 1956. The aim of this society is to progress the public investments of Under Development Countries.
4. Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The main aim of this society, which established in 1988, is for helping the money flow from Public Investors to Poor countries.

International Monetary Fund (IMF):

1. IMF is the banks of all countries and Central Banks.
2. IMF started its working from 1947 March 1, which came into existence in 1945 December 27.
3. International Commercial Development, protecting the exchange value of currencies of countries, economic co-operation, special drawing rights for member countries and giving importance to extra economics were the main aims of IMF.

World Meteorological Organization (WMO):

1. The headquarters of WMO formed in 1950 is Geneva.
2. The main aim of this society is international exchanging of information and services related with weather.

International Maritime Organization (IMCO):

1. The main aim of IMCO which came into existence in 1958 is the handling of technical matters and stopping the Sea Waste depth.
2. The headquarters of society is London.

World Trade Organization (WTO):

1. The formation of WTO was in 1995 January 1, through the Gatt Agreement in 1948 January 1.
2. The main aim of World Trade Society with its headquarters at Geneva is smoothening the international trade by controlling the taxes.
3. The major summit for the formation of World Trade Organization is held in 1994 April 15 in Morocco.
4. World Trade Organization was formed based on Dun gal System.

United Nations Development Project (UNDP):

1. UNDP with its headquarters at New York was came into existence in 1965 November 22.
2. The main aim of UNDP is helping the developing countries for increasing the natural wealth eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities.

United Nations Eco-system Project (UNEP):

1. The Eco-system project formed with its headquarters at Nairobi of Kenya in 1972 is UNEP.
2. The main aim of UNEP is the international union in the areas related to Eco-system.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA):

1. The headquarters of UNFPA was formed in 1967 in New York.
2. The main aim of this organization is to ensure universal access to reproductive health, including family planning and sexual health to all couples and individuals.

United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO):

1. The main aim of UNIDO with its headquarters at Vienna is for helping the developing countries for the modernization and development of Industries.
2. The UNIDO formed in 1966, November 17 became the special agency of United Nations Assembly in 1967 January 1.

International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO):

1. International Civil Aviation Organization was instituted with its head quarters at Montreal in 1947.
2. The main aim of Organization is smoothening the International Airways by making laws with International Standard.
3. The organization would be held once between three years by the member countries of society.

Universal Postal Union (UPU):

1. The society formed with its head quarters at Bern in 1947 is Universal Postal Union.
2. The main aim of UPU is improving the Postal system by conducting the postal co-operation in the international level.

International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD):

1. The head quarters of IFAD established in 1974 November 30 is Rome.
2. The main aim of Organization is giving financial aid to Agricultural Startup by increasing the food production and improving Nutrition level.

United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD):

1. UNCTAD is the society formed in 1964 December 30, with Geneva as its Head quarters.
2. The main aim of this council is strengthening the international trade with the aim of managing the economic growth of developing countries.

United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC):

1. The organization, UNHRC was formed with its head quarters at Geneva in 1946.
2. The main aim of Organization is Human Rights Protection.
3. The general assembly conducted in United Nations Assembly was in Paris in 1948 December 10, which became an important turning point in human history with its approval of Human Rights Declaration.
4. December 10 is celebrated as World Human Rights Day.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU):

1. International Telecommunication Union is established with its headquarters at Geneva in 1865.
2. The prohibition of the news communication systems, Radio, Telegraph, Telephone and space communication in the international level, system and mapping were prepared by ITU.

BRICS:

1. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa were the countries joined to form the association.
