Government Arts College in Thycaud Trivandrum

Government Arts College, which is earlier a part of H.H. Maharaja’s College, is established separately in 1924 in order to accommodate the Arts Departments. It was renamed as University intermediate College, after merging with University College in 1937 for a course. When this course was stopped in 1971, it is upgraded to a first grade college in 1971. After that, it is called as Government Arts College. They are affiliated by the Kerala University. Almost all students who joined the Alumni Association were placed in different companies including Multi National Companies like Infosys, IBM, Ernst and Young etc. Some of the previous alumni members of this college include former President of India Dr. K .R. Narayanan, former Governor Dr. P C Alexander, popular poet Shri. Changampuzha Krishna Pillai, Prof. N.Krishna Pillai, and Dr.G. Madhavan Nair, Chairman of ISRO. They are also conducting a Campus Placement cell and also other programs such as tech fest, Sports, Cultural Activities and other fests. The facilities of this college include well equipped library, conference hall and so on. This college includes separate Hostel for both girls and boys. Some of anti activities such as Ragging, Strikes and Harthals are restricted inside the campus. Rules and regulations are also strict.
